Apparently, the Chelsea boot debuted in the Victorian era and was originally associated with horse riding. Queen Victoria's bootmaker came up with this amazing idea to add elastic to the boot for easy accessibility. Brills! This easy-on, easy-off boot really appealed to the working women of the Victorian era. Sadly, everyone was not drinking tea, eating biscuits and wearing gowns around the house all day. Anyway, we thank you kind sir (Charles Goodyear...we hope you were kind) for your thrifty invention..as it is clever and chic.
