Holiday Glam: Cincy Chic Style

This past Friday we simply had to check out Cincy Chic's Holiday Glam event at the Lexus Rivercenter!   What better place to have a holiday fashion show than among luxury vehicles!


We must admit, we added a car to our Christmas Wish List! LOL *Wishful Thinking*

Event Time: Saks Beauty

Last night...the fabulous and fashionable converged on Saks Fifth Avenue to get beauty tips and tricks on how to be even more fabulous (as if it were possible)!

A gaggle of fashion bloggers took part in the event which featured makeup artists from Chanel, Trish McEvoy, Bobbi Brown, YSL, La Mer (hand massages anyone!?) and Laura Mercier! Everyone was absolutely amazing and we were able to get some great tips about what is trending in beauty this Fall and Winter!

• Chanel:  You must try their shimmer highlighter!  A little goes a loooonnnggg way!
• YSL: They have a new mascara called Shocking.  It. Is. Amaze!
• Trish McEvoy:  You have got to go in and try out their beauty planners.  The best part, they don't bombard you with colors you won't use and its all customized in a great planner style case!  Talk about bang for your buck!
• Bobbi Brown:  For all your Bobbi Brown die-hard fans, the "vintage glosses" are back!! M tried on crimson, a beautifully dark plum lipstick! If you're looking to amp up your lip-look this Fall, you have got to try! 
• La Mer: Get. The. Hand. Massage.  From the looks (and feel) of Ashlee of Amello Style and Tamia of Style Sample, they were extremely satisfied!  It's La Mer, would you expect any less?!
• Laura Mercier:  Saks is featuring the national Laura Mercier makeup artist in store on October 28th! We have already booked our appointment and we can't wait to try her products! Call Saks to schedule your's too!

We sipped champagne, nibbled on a few bites and tested the entire makeup section in Saks!  Not a bad Thursday evening.  

We couldn't resist trying every scent of the NYC Bond perfume, we literally scented the entire parking garage upon our exit!  You're welcome.

Reflecting on...Retrofittings

Last Thursday we mentioned that we attended the glamorous Retrofittings event at the Hilton Netherland Plaza downtown.  The setting was beautiful and we could not believe how many people came out to St. Vincent de Paul thrift stores and the brilliant DAAP students who put together the amazing pieces from clothes found at the SVDP stores!

Inside, a boutique was set up which housed lush faux furs, vintage jewelry, scarves, dresses and so much more, all from SVDP stores!  Appetizers, drinks and raffels were held during the cocktail hour and the place was packed!

We were on hand to help model some live auction pieces! B modeled a fur coat that was simply to DIE! We still can't believe how someone snatched it up for $1,600! Such an amazing deal!  M modeled a custom bracelet designed by Lee Krombholz jewelers.   The bracelet was made from jewelry found at SVDP stores and he added diamonds and black sapphires!  Exquisite!   Congrats to all the lucky winners of the live auction!

The fashion show put on by the DAAP students was incredible!  We loved so many of the looks and the creativity in this city really shines through these students!

Event Time: Retrofittings

Don't you love the thrill of coming across an amazing shirt/dress/necklace in the most unsuspecting place?  Well so do the design students who make Retrofitting's possible!

Retrofittings is an annual event held by St. Vincent de Paul's thrift stores where 50 students from DAAP use the clothing, accessories and anything else they can find the SVDP thrift stores to design looks that rival those found in your favorite department store!

Not only is this event sure to pull a huge crowd, it is also an awesome way for Cincinnati to continue to nurture, support and showcase the creativity of up-and-coming designers and the fashion industry in our city as a whole! 

Krombholz Jewelers are also designing a fabulous piece of jewelry designed from items found at SVDP which will be up for auction at the event! You can check out the interview and sneak peak with Cincy Chic here! 

The event kicks off on October 13th at 6:00pm at the Hilton Netherland Plaza.  Hor d'oeuvers, cocktails, an auction, raffle and boutique sale (swoon!) will be open prior to the fashion show, hosted by Jen Dalton!

Northside Second Saturdays

It has been a fun-filled weekend over here at Style Edit! B's wedding is fast approaching and there was countless festivals happening all around!

One of the events we checked out was Northside Second Saturdays!

So much fun! Not only were the different shops and boutiques having great deals and fun music, many of them also provided amazing cocktails for patrons! Talk about hospitality!

If you haven't been over to the Northside neighborhood you need to make the trip! Quirky house wears, vintage clothing, amazing food and so much more!  We didn't get a chance to make it to all the shops, but we are definitely marking our calendars for next month!
